was wondering if anyone had a right up (with pics) on how to change the thermostat on my h22a. hopefully this will stop the overheating.
also my car in revs from 1000 to 2500 back to 1000 constently, i go for about a 2km drive then it stops and idles fine, but when she gets cold again it happens. what could this be?

you dont need a write up. It's not hard at all.
remove the lower rad hose from the therm. housing. (some coolant will obviously come out so get a catch pan ready)
i'm not sure what size bolts are on the h22's but on d/b's they are 3 10mm bolts that you remove. Once those are lose you can remove the housing (if its really stuck just give it a decent wack with a plastic hammer or mallet (but dont hit the neck, i've seen them crack)
After the housing is there, you see the thermostat, pull firmly on it and it should slide right out, ocne again if its jammed grab some pliers for leverage or something.
Once its out.. scrape the old gasket off, place the new thermostat in (noting which way it came out) (the spring/control side faces the engine). THen put the gasket on with some high-temp RTV silicone and torque down the 3 10mm bolts.
Then refill the rad untill its full.. like the engine run with the rad cap off for a good 10-15 minutes so all the air bubbles escape. Then refill the rad untill its full, close the cap and your good to go

Its not hard changing the thermostat, but its a pain in the ass, if you have a hybrid, theres very little room to get your hands around there, ive been putting of changing mine for a while now.
